Weekend Reading 01.02.2021
Happy new year! It’s wild to me that 2020 is… over. It felt endless, it felt like the shortest year ever - frankly, I’m still gathering my thoughts on it. Chris and I spent New Year’s Eve at home, watching Harry Potter - we’ve been working through the series - and were in bed by 10 pm. In my world, that’s the perfect way to spend NYE. On New Year’s Day we kicked off the new year the way we usually do - outside. I went for a glorious run early in the morning – the weather was perfect, cold but sunny and bright, and I love running on holidays when the world is quiet and the streets are empty (especially right now when the presence of others requires running with a mask on). Then we headed to my mom’s for a bonfire. We’ll likely be doing a lot of bonfires this winter, as we’re not gathering indoors right now and it’s a safe way to see her. And now? It’s raining (boo) - which is a bummer but provides a nice opportunity to do some major cleaning and organizing in preparation for the year ahead. And thinking, too. I’m not setting any resolutions this year (that didn’t exactly work out in 2020!), but want to do some reflecting and goal-setting for the year ahead. Life feels so in-flux at the moment, and with so much up in the air, I’m hoping to be more intentional with my time this year, and take the opportunity to learn more. I hope your 2021 started just the way you hoped it would - let’s think good - but realistic - thoughts for the year ahead. xo
ICYMI: Everything I read in 2020
A good read: the comedy and tragedy of Dwight Schrute
A couple of good things I’ve been watching lately: Bridgerton (sheesh!🥵) and WW84 (I didn’t expect to enjoy this movie as much as I did but it was really good!)
P.S. did you know Bridgerton is a book series?
We’re doing fitness resolutions all wrong (TRUTH. My tip for moving more? FInd something you enjoy doing – maybe a few things – and do that)
My birthday is coming up and I”m thinking of treating myself to this dress as a birthday present
Have you packed up your holiday decor yet? Here’s a helpful post about how to store your bottle brush trees
It might be a new year but I’m still living in loungewear – and I need some new pants. These French terry joggers look cozy but chic. I’m also into these under-$20 wide-leg cozy pants
A tarot read for each zodiac sign for 2021 (my sign, Aquarius, feels spot-on)
On building an appreciation for the natural world
Worth repeating: how to enjoy winter
This natural enzyme mask was one of my favorite skincare products of 2020 (and I need a restock)
I’ll be working on a larger skincare favorites post for next week, but just a reminder that you can save 15% off Ogee Organics with my code ‘Julie5’ (the jojoba glow face oil is my favorite)
