Weekend Reading 1.16.21
Hello friends, I hope you’re having a nice weekend. Happy LAST SATURDAY with 45 as president! Something to celebrate! 2021 really started off with a bang, didn’t it? I’ve been feeling a sense of heavy pandemic fatigue these past couple of weeks. Possibly 2020 fatigue… or news fatigue. Or just fatigue from all of the things. The events of January 6th were a lot, to say the very least. I’ve been reading and listening about how much worse things really were at the Capitol that day and it makes me even angrier when I see people online still refuse to condemn the actions of the insurrectionists and condemn white supremacy. If you’re interested in learning more about it and how it came to pass, I highly recommend The Daily Podcast from the New York Times. It’s great - informative and well put together, and actually engaging. This coming week I’m looking forward to watching the inauguration (Tom Hanks is also hosting a special) and keeping my fingers crossed nothing horrible happens.
Current events aside, we’re having a bit of a lazy Saturday over here. Disappointingly, it’s pouring outside (oh how I wish it was snow!) so the opportunities to do anything outside of home are slim. So, we’re reading, watching movies, and baking some cookies. A solid Saturday, in my book, at least in pandemic times (I miss having plans). I hope you’re having a nice day too xo
Big news: Thinx launched activewear this week! I’m eyeing the leggings for winter running and the training shorts for warm-weather workouts. Remember you can save $10 off your order if you shop through my profile (just tap that link then go from there)
I watched both seasons of The Alienist over the past couple of weeks and really enjoyed it - it was dark, but more than that I enjoyed the set design and costuming. I just learned it’s based on a book!
Also book-related: I’m reading The Lake House by Kate Morton and am enjoying it so far. I picked it up randomly at my mom’s - it’s a good mystery!
Made me laugh: on making new friends as an adult, a syllabus.
This is where I’m at right now: restocking my loungewear. I bought a couple of pairs of these wide-leg sweats this week and they’re perfect. I’m planning on cropping one pair a bit and wearing them with a matching top. Paired with simple jewelry, it feels somewhat put-together while at home but still comfortable. I hate feeling constricted by my clothes when I work from home, which is pretty much always these days.
Today in “yeah, no shit” news: Sedentary pandemic life is bad for happiness (and wellbeing)

This rad coat is on it’s way to me and I looooove it, so cool and versatile - but still warm
Are you excited for the Sex and the City reboot? I am but also I’ll watch just about anything at this point. Anyway this is fun: a reimagining of what the SATC characters would wear now
This Grateful Dead shirt is in my shopping cart
