Weekend Reading 10.31
Happy Saturday and Happy Halloween! How are you celebrating safely tonight? We’re going to the drive-in to see Halloween and I can’t wait. I’m not even a big scary movie person, but we meant to get to the drive in this summer (Maine is lucky to have several) so I’m happy to get one movie in before winter hits. And winter is going to hit soon. The weather switch flipped this week and went from relatively mild to cold cold cold. It’s feeling cozy in our home and chilly outdoors and honestly the transition wasn’t easy this past week. Five days of rain isn’t great for they psyche in the first place, but add to that the stress of the pandemic and the election and well, I finally broke down a bit on Thursday. Our numbers are going up fast in Maine and I’m really worried for what’s going to happen this winter. Wear a mask, friends, and care for your neighbors. And if you’re handing out candy from a distance tonight, maybe splurge for full bars because why not be that house this year? If we got any trick or treaters we’d definitely do it.
Have a safe, happy, and distanced All Hallows Eve, friends xo
If you haven’t voted yet – now’s the time! Don’t mail your ballots, drop ‘em off or vote in person – and if you need a reason to vote, here are 53 compelling reasons to cast your ballot!
Everything is on sale from Girlfriend! I picked up a few of my favorite Paloma bras (literally the best sports bra and so versatile), the unitard (so good with a blazer and sneakers for summer), and another pair of the leggings because they’re all I want to wear in winter
Please, stop traveling.
The question on everybody’s mind: When will we know who won the election?
Since many of us are staring down the possibility of lockdowns, how about some craft kits?! These make great gifts too: a pretty DIY paper flower chandelier kit, this DIY sashiko kit would make great coasters or patches, these vibrant DIY flower embroideries make me want to learn!
Are we still obsessed with all things pumpkin? Yes, yes we are. And pumpkin swirl slab pie? Yes, yes, please.
Speaking of DIY, definitely adding this sweet necklace DIY to my to-make list!
How are we feeling about the big ruffled collar trend? I wasn’t into it until I saw this pretty velvet dress and this shirt - I want both! So perfect with some big, badass boots, don’t you think?
And if we’re feeling the holiday spirit a little early, these DIY Christmas traditions from around the world might inspire (I grew up with candles on our tree a la Norway – and Germany – and yes, terrifying)
Have you seen the L.L. Bean x Todd Snyder collection? It’s so good! Love this Maine sweatshirt, this cozy shirt jacket, and this neon-trimmed fleece
Happy Halloween!
