Weekend Reading 11.22.2020
Sunday! We made it! This week was… weird. And not the fun kind of weird, but the something’s-off-in-the-universe kind of weird. Zephyr hurt himself (we saw the vet today, he’s resting and should be fine), I locked myself out of my house and needed a locksmith (i had my keys and STILL couldn’t get back in), and had zero attention span. Everything felt off and I don’t know why (could it be this crushing PANDEMIC? Perhaps). So even though the weekends don’t mean much anymore in the grand scheme of things – I appreciate them as a hard reset for the coming week. Chris is back from working away from home so we’re spending this weekend planning our Thanksgiving-for-two menu and doing a little holiday prep. I’ve never been huge on Thanksgiving – ambivilent is a good word – but I do like setting aside the day as a day to eat good food and slow down. I hope your weekend is the reset you need too. XO
ICYMI: Tips for a happy & safe holiday-at-home in 2020
Are you dressing up for your stay-at-home holidays this year? I recommend it! I have this pretty sequin dress in my cart right now (and it’s way under $100!) - and these gorgeous house shoes would look lovely with it!
Stacey Abrams on finishing the job in Georgia - it’s not over yet!
A couple of products I’m testing out and liking so far: This priming mascara (the primer really works to lengthen!) and this affordable and clean retinol
Chris and I are making this jiggly, fun dessert for Thanksgiving this year - I can’t wait!
If you’re shopping for kids this holiday season, definitely check out this list of 100 Black-owned kids shops!
One of my favorite podcasts has a great series on Princess Diana - and why we care so much about Diana’s dresses (have you watched the latest season of The Crown yet?)
Do you decorate for Thanksgiving? We don’t really, save for setting the table nicely, but I love Kendi’s guide for decorating at the last minute.
If you normally run a 5k or Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving - sign up for Seeding Soverignity’s Truthsgiving 4 miler with me! The proceeds benefit a really excellent cause and the site itself has a ton of educational information available for learning the truth behind Thanksgiving and why we need to decolonize this and other holidays
These pretty tiled coasters would make a great gift for a tea lover
This DIY Advent Calendar is so cute! And if you’d rather buy one, these grown-up advent calendars are a great idea (love this candle advent!)
