Secret Recipes

I'm really glad that Dolly Parton photo is getting so much love, she really is one of my favorite people.
Skirt: Vintage ($5)
Belt: Vintage ($3)
Shoes: F21 ($13 sale)
Dress (top): Kensie via Idee Geniale/Delightful Dozen
Sometimes the best way to find inspiration is by just playing dress-up. I was all ready to photograph myself wearing this dress how I originally had it, with a brown belt and brown shoes, but then took a look in the mirror and decided that I needed to challenge myself more. I have to say, I love how it works as a top. I normally wouldn't have gone for something with such dramatic shoulders, but that's the beauty of clothing swaps, it's mine for a day and then I send it along. I added my white leather skirt for a bottom, and my leopard print belt as a mid-tone. To even out the brown shades in the belt, I added the Baracus Bracelet, which has gold and silver chains. For me, when I'm putting together an outfit it's all about balance.

Also, this leather skirt makes me feel like an 80's rock video girl. When ever I put it on I half expect a piece of cherry pie to fall from the sky and land suggestively on my lap. And yes, that link goes straight to the Warrant video, check out those awesome polka-dot bed sheets. Those bed sheets, and maybe the lip couch, are the only redeeming qualities of that video.
